MARGAO: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant while stating that the famous Dindi festival is not restricted only to Margao but is observed by all Goans, said he saw no harm in declaring it as a State Festival and said he would consult all stakeholders and decide upon this matter before the next Dindi celebration.
The chief minister made this statement while replying to a question after flagging off the Dindi march from Hari Mandir in Margao today.
“Since the time I became the chief minister nobody has approached me with this issue of declaring Dindi as a State festival,” he said while pointing out that he took over the reins of the State only about seven months back.
However, Dr Pramod admitted that his predecessor late Manohar Parrikar was aware of the issue and was trying to deal with it. “I shall consult the local MLA and others and accordingly decide upon this before the next Dindi,” he said.
