The state’s commercial capital was filled with spiritual splendour on Monday with the inauguration of Margao’s traditional Dindi Utsav. The festival, dedicated to Shree Vithal Rakumayee at Shree Hari Mandir, resonated with bhajans and abhangs, creating an atmosphere of devotion.
Worshippers participated in the festivities, passionately swaying to the melodic sounds of pakhvaz, taal, and mrudang. In addition to respecting the occasion’s religious significance, the Dindi Utsav unites the community in a festive celebration of faith and cultural customs.
Secretary Manohar Borkar said that the Dindi Utsav has been celebrated for 114 years. The shrine of Hari Mandir was set in a chawl in Margao back in 1909. Since then, the Dindi Utsav has been celebrated by each and every resident of Margao with great enthusiasm.
