Dinesh Rao hints at more seats for GFP, even as block after block revolts

More seats for GFP will be on “winnability”, says Rao

PANJIM: In a clear mismatch between what grassroots Congress workers want, and what they feel is the deal-making of its leadership, AICC Desk in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao opened the door wide open for the Goa Forward Party by hinting t that more seats could be offered to them.

Gundu Rao said that seat-sharing with GFP will be decided on a case-to-case basis and on merit.

Shockingly, Gundu Rao adopted this attitude even as the 35 members of the Mayem block resigned over giving that seat to GFP while the same situation can happen in St Andre if the Congress “surrendered” (as workers put  it)  yet another seat to GFP.

The Congress has allotted Fatorda and Mayem constituencies to the GFP as per the pre-poll alliance between the two parties. However, there are reports that the GFP is demanding more share of seats and has set its eye on the St Andre constituency.

Reacting to the resignation of Adv Ajay Prabhugaonkar in protest against the Congress decision to allot the Mayem seat to GFP, Rao said, “As per the party’s decision the Mayem constituency has been given to the alliance partner. Obviously, there will be some people who will be not happy. We had told our Mayem Block committee before about the possibility of Mayem seat going to the alliance partner.”

“The Congress workers should accept party’s decision and understand why such pre-poll alliances needed,” the AICC desk in-charge added.
