Speaking to reporters in Panjim association’s President Audrey Fernandes said that the repeated requests to the secretary of DSE Fr Zeferino D’Souza to look into the grievances of its employees failed.
She informed that the lady employees have been denied the rightful leaves including child care leave (CCL) by the school managements which caused inconvenience to the employees and some of them even lost their jobs.
Fernandes informed that 4000 employees of the DSE are associated with the union and most of them are females.
“When the government is funding the entire cost of operation of the schools and teachers’ salaries what is the reason for denial of such crucial leaves to the needy mothers,” Fernandes questioned.
She has also complained of extreme harassment by heads of the institutions. Verbal abuse, undue name calling, mental torture, isolation from fellow colleagues, issuing memos with silliest reason are few common ways of harassment, she added.
“There is no transparency in the organization, it is a clear violation of the HC order regarding RTI Act, the management has refused to appoint PIO in their office and comply with the RTI ACT,” Fernandes said.
Employees union has also slammed DSE for highhandedly covering up the sexual harassment case against the principal of a Verna-based college.
Fernandes said that a TYBA student had filed a written complaint to the Goa University and based on it the internal complaints committee for prevention and prohibition of sexual harassment of women at workplace of Goa University had directed the college to initiate action against the principal.
She informed that till date no action has been initiated by the management.
“It is a major case where heads of the institute was entering common room of the ladies used to pinch the girls,” Fernandes said.
