PANJIM: The Directorate of Agriculture has decided to promote natural farming in around 600 ha on cluster basis. Close to 1500 farmers have shown interest to shift to new form of farming.
Director Agriculture Nevil Alphonso said that the department will promote natural farming covering an area of 600 ha. He said that the necessary assistance will also be provided to the farmers for shifting to natural farming.
In this regard, experts from Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Gujarat recently conducted two-day training programme on natural farming for the department officials and farmers.
Alphonso said that the basic objective of the training was to motivate and increase the confidence of farmers to accept the Natural Farming.
He said that the experts even conducted demonstration on transfer of information and Technology for Natural Farming.
Director said that during the training participant learnt about importance of natural farming, the processes, difference between conventional farming, organic farming and natural farming, among others.
