MARGAO: The differently-abled beneficiary was finally given his three wheeler-bike by South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha at his residence at Curtorim at a function on Sunday finally resolving the issue peacefully.

It may be recalled that Sardinha ran into a controversy after he refused to hand over the bike to the beneficiary on Wednesday as the latter who was travelling by bus with his family reached a little late at the venue.

This incident had led to a public uproar over how the beneficiary had been treated.

On Sunday, the beneficiary was called to receive his bike along with 5 other beneficiaries at the residence of the MP in Curtorim at 9 am. The beneficiary reached on time and received the bike. When he did so, there was a round of applause from the crowd, as was the case when the other beneficiaries received their bikes.

“Yes, we received the bike today. There was no problem, everything went well (at the function),” said a family member of the beneficiary when contacted by O Heraldo.

Around 200 people had gathered for the function and when Sardinha addressed the gathering, the beneficiary, who has been in the centre of the controversy, sat on his bike near the MP and even clapped along with the crowd during Sardinha’s speech.
