PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will continue to play an active role in Goan politics though the party is disappointed with the election verdict.
Addressing the media, AAP State Convener Elvis Gomes said the party will not betray the faith of people and will continue to convince Goa to change its politics.
“The Aam Aadmi Party, although disappointed with the election results, welcomes the verdict and is thankful to all those who backed the party through their vote. We will continue our journey in convincing people to change politics,” he said.
Gomes said that the developments of the last two days has proved what AAP has always been saying, that the class of career politicians from whether party are united in their pursuit of power and loot of Goa.
He said the mandate was clearly against the incumbent BJP but due to the greed of individual Congress leaders, BJP was allowed to indulge in rank opportunism and usurp power by disregarding the verdict.
“The Congress definitely had the advantage, it being the single largest party but failed because its State leadership miserably failed in getting its act together to choose a leader and relied heavily on its Delhi High Command,” Gomes said.
He said that Goa Forward leader Vijai Sardesai and Goa Forward have back-stabbed the people for their lust of power. “Who in reality are the ‘B teams’ of the BJP? AAP will never change its colours and will continue its efforts to change politics for the better because the people of Goa deserve better than the corrupt power play currently being played out,” Gomes said.
