PANJIM: BJP’s Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, who was amongst the first to offer to vacate the seat for Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, is disappointed that the latter is contesting from Panjim.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday evening, Cabral said, “He would have loved to contest from Curchorem but unfortunately for me, as well as Curchorem voters, he is not contesting from there. He is contesting from Panjim and the reason he told me is that the voters and karyakartas repeatedly demanded that he contest from Panjim. He therefore had to bow down to their demands,” he said.
Cabral said he would love to campaign for the CM, along with his karyakartas from Curchorem.
Speaking further, Cabral said he wished Parrikar would have contested from Curchorem. “But he dashed our wish. Nevertheless, he has gone through a lot of phases in his political career and now it is his fag end of the career so he feels that he should stay back (in Panjim). It is his personal decision,” Carbal said.
