A retaining wall collapsed on the house of Nirmala Nippanikar early morning at 2.35 causing a loss of 50 thousand rupees to the house. Fire officials said that plenty of rain for the last two days may have loosened the soil and pushed the retaining wall until it collapsed.
A huge tamarind tree near BPS Club in Pajifond came down crashing on Friday morning which destroyed a compound wall and damaged the wall of the house of Deepak Govekar. The incident happened on the Varde Valaluliker Road.
Meanwhile, the reported loss caused due the tree falls in Cuncolim and adjoining areas has reached to around Rs 30, 000. For the last 24 hours the fire brigade in Salcete taluka has attended to 23 calls of tree falling and one call of retaining wall collapse. 15 fire brigade officials and labourers have been working tirelessly to restore the basics in the areas and have successfully managed to the finish task with little hassle.
