VASCO: The Chicalim gram sabha on Sunday witnessed heated discussions over the discharge of sewage into nullahs and demand to safeguard the agricultural lands in the village.
The gram sabha members also discussed the issue of sewage treatment plant and stated that though it was an important issue, they opposed the treatment plant in the village.
Sarpanch Kamlaprasad Yadav assured the villagers that the garbage issue in the village will be solved in the near future with the setting up of a garbage treatment plant.
He also told the villagers that the panchayat will construct a new faecal sludge treatment plant to treat sewage water in order to solve the issue of sewage discharge in the nullahs or sewage flowing down in the village.
The villagers especially the Chicalim Youth Farmers Club chairperson Alisha Pereira demanded to protect and preserve the agricultural lands remaining in the village.
