MARGAO: Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco in a letter to Chief Minister has request for immediate disembarkation of Goan seafarers from “Angriya” and “Karnika” and quick evacuation of other seafarers from the State on other foreign ships across the globe.
The MLA has requested Ayush Minister, CM, Governor and the Chief Secretary for the disembarkation of seafarers.
“Like the recent welcome decision of the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji to allow disembarking of 66 Goan seafarers from cruise liner Marella Discovery, the other Goan seafarers presently onboard the ships in the Indian waters i.e. 23 from Angriya and 95 from Karnika are also awaiting for immediate disembarking on the Indian shore,” he said.
Reginaldo appealed to the State government to get in touch with the Union Ministry of Shipping and the DG Shipping for the evacuation of all stranded Goan seafarers from across the globe. In, particular due to the unfavourable human conditions existing on Costa Ship in Italy, the Goan seafarers on board are looking for their immediate evacuation.
He reiterated that in the opposition is not doing politics but serving the Goan brethren and the country.
In his request to the government, Reginaldo said due to the protocol, the government is in a better position to get details of all the Goan seafarers stranded abroad and then work out important details/modalities on priority for evacuation.
Reginaldo requested the government to intervene before things get worse for the evacuation of Goan seafarers from across the globe.
