The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in connection with the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s former manager Disha Salian, naming several prominent political and film personalities among those whose roles require investigation. The FIR follows a direction from the Bombay High Court for a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding Salian’s death.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and his father, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, have been named in the FIR. Actors Dino Morea and Sooraj Pancholi, along with actor Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty, are also among those whose roles have been listed for investigation.

The FIR, as reported by India Today, refers to an investigation into the alleged commission of principal offences, criminal conspiracy and the subsequent creation and propagation of what it describes as a false suicide narrative. It also refers to allegations involving the suppression, destruction and/or fabrication of evidence.
The CBI FIR does not mean that the people named have been found guilty of any offence. Their inclusion means their alleged roles and the circumstances surrounding the case are subject to investigation.
The list also includes Aaditya Thackeray’s bodyguards and several serving or former police officials. Among those named are former Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze, former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh, DCP Vishal Thakur and former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
The investigation comes against the backdrop of long-running questions surrounding the circumstances of Salian’s death. The case has continued to attract political and public attention, particularly because of its alleged links to several prominent figures in Maharashtra’s political, police and entertainment circles.
The Bombay High Court’s direction for a detailed probe has now resulted in the CBI formally registering the case and examining the various allegations and claims surrounding Salian’s death.
The FIR’s reference to an alleged “false suicide story” is particularly significant because investigators are also looking into whether evidence connected with the case was suppressed, destroyed or fabricated. These remain allegations that the CBI will have to examine as part of its investigation.
The development is likely to intensify political debate in Maharashtra, given the names of senior political figures and former police officials appearing in the FIR. Aaditya Thackeray, a prominent Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, has been at the centre of political speculation surrounding the case for several years.
The FIR also brings renewed attention to the names of Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Dino Morea and Sooraj Pancholi, whose alleged roles are now part of the CBI’s investigation.
At this stage, the FIR represents the beginning of the investigative process. The CBI will have to establish the facts, examine evidence and determine whether the allegations mentioned in the case are supported by material evidence.
