Canacona: Vehicles parked in haphazard manner along the road duringCanacona’s weekly bazaar on Saturdayled to traffic chaos. This caused a lot of inconvenience to the citizens and customers as their vehicles were stuck due to the haphazard parking.
People from different parts of Canaconataluka and also from Padi and Barcem areas of Quepemtaluka come to the Canacona weekly market for shopping. The market is generally crowded on this day. However, a mad rush was witnessed on Saturday as locals thronged to the market for New Year’s eve purchases.
Since there is no parking facility in Canacona market, vehicles are parked in improper manner. This lead to regular traffic snarls. Former CMC councillor Stanley Gracias has demanded that the Canacona Municipality should acquire agricultural land adjacent to the market and provide parking space for the customers.
Meanwhile, as the New Year 2024 is already at our doorsteps, Palolem beach is experiencing a surge in both domestic and international tourist arrivals. In response to the growing influx, the Canacona police have made temporary parking arrangements in nearby private farm lands. This measure has brought relief to the visiting tourists. However, the growing number of tourists at Palolem beach is resulting in the parking space shortage.
