PANJIM: As government has been prolonging its assurance to rehabilitate the vendors – displaced in a demolition drive outside Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in July, the latter visited a temple in Bambolim on Sunday ahead of their proposed chain hunger strike.

The kiosk operators, spearheaded by activist Donick Inacio Pereira, offered their prayers in Lord Hanuman Temple seeking blessings. The aggrieved vendors have decided to postpone their chain hunger strike by one day, which was earlier scheduled to begin on Monday, following request from St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes.

“We have run from pillar to post to ensure our rehabilitation but nothing has been done so far. Therefore, we all are here to offers our prayers to the God that government implements its promise to rehabilitate us without any further delay,” one of the displaced vendors Prasad Naik told reporters after the temple visit and prayers.
