PANJIM: Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar filed a disqualification petition against Health Minister Vishwajit Rane before Speaker Pramod Sawant on Tuesday.
Reliable sources confirmed the development, stating that a show cause notice has been issued to Rane, and a hearing has tentatively been scheduled on Friday.
“Both the parties – petitioner MLA and the minister – will be heard. The office of Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly has issued a notice and hearing is likely on Friday,” the source said.
Rane had resigned his membership of the
Assembly minutes after taking oath and later had also quit from the Congress. He then joined the BJP and was inducted as Health Minister. On Tuesday he filed his nomination papers to contest the by-polls from Valpoi constituency.
