CAVELOSSIM: South Goa District Judge-III Pradeep M Shinde recently quashed and set aside the order of the Directorate of Panchayats regarding the disqualification of the Cavelossim Village Panchayat members filed by the Cavelossim Villagers Forum (CVF) directing the panchayat director to readmit the petition and hear both parties on Monday (July 19) at 10 am.
The CVF had sought the disqualification of the seven Cavelossim Village Panchayat members – former Cavelossim sarpanch Viola Costa, Lazariaho Miranda, Lumina Rodrigues, Brenda Passanha, Edwin Baretto, James Baretto and John Baretto — under Section 210-A of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994.
Aggrieved with the judgement and order of the Director of Panchayat, the CVF had challenged the order and judgement before the South Goa District Judge-III claiming it to be ‘totally arbitrary, perverse, biased and passed without application of mind to the facts and law of the case.’
