NEW DELHI: For the eleventh time, the Supreme Court hearing on twin pending disqualification petitions of Goa are further postponed to November 6, without a hearing. The hearing tentatively fixed on October 26 was first changed to November 2 and then to November 3, without ascribing any reason.
Even November 6 is a tentative date generated by the computer. It is the last day of the next week before the Apex Court goes on a weeklong Diwali holidays to reopen only on November 16. The last time the two cases had come up on the board for hearing before the Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde on August 11.
Both the cases are against Goa Assembly Speaker Rajesh Patnekar, who is sitting over the applications filed to disqualify 12 MLAs, many of whom defected to become the ministers in the present BJP government in the State.
The first petition is by Goa Congress president Girish Chodankar and the second is by Sudin Dhavalikar of MGP.
