The union claims that the CCP Commissioner is granted powers, which he is misusing.
Addressing the media on Friday, the employees union President Ajitsingh Rane said, “It’s time for the CCP to be dissolved and for the government to appoint an administrator. I demand that municipal administrator for Panjim be enforced.” He assumed that a municipal administrator will resolve the matter immediately.
The union has been demanding a hike in daily wages, regularisation of senior and eligible workers and also grant of eight days strike salary.
Rane also said that the collection of garbage will be slowed. “The union has decided to take a step ahead by commencing ‘slow down’ of work from Monday. The speed of collection of garbage will be slowed down,” he said, claiming the workers are becoming aggressive.
He said that workers are ready to work overtime provided they are paid their eight day strike salary. He asserted that workers want to stop garbage collection immediately, but he has been giving time for CCP to come up with an amicable solution.
