PANJIM: Directorate of Education (DoE) on Friday confirmed that the distribution of laptops under the government’s Cyberage Scheme would begin from November 14.
“Looking at the occasion of Children’s Day, the distribution of laptops would begin from November 14 to students of Class XII with Class XII pass outs,” DoE sources said.
DoE had earlier attributed the delay in distribution of laptops under the scheme to the election code of conduct and implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST). The laptops, about 45,000, are being purchased at a cost of Rs 85.50 crore.
According to the scheme, students from aided schools can avail of laptops by paying Rs 1000, but recently the scheme was also open to unaided schools wherein students will have to pay Rs 2000.
