MARGAO: In response to a news report published in O Heraldo, authorities promptly repaired a hazardous section of the road at the entrance of the South Goa District Hospital in Margao, addressing public concerns and ensuring the safety and convenience of hospital staff and patients.
The repair works were carried out under the direction of the South Goa Collectorate office, following the publication of the news report on June 12.
The issue arose when a portion of the road at the hospital’s entrance collapsed, exposing iron rods and creating a dangerous situation for patients, staff, and visitors. The sinkhole, which developed less than a year after the road was laid, had been left unattended for several days, causing inconvenience for vehicles entering the hospital.
Local residents had called on the authorities to assess and repair the damaged road to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone accessing the hospital facilities.
Citizens have expressed their happiness and gratitude for the swift repair. Milagres Fernandes, a resident of Fatorda, said, “We are very thankful to the district authorities for taking action and O Heraldo for bringing this serious issue to the notice of the government.”
