District-level panels to decide
The government today formed district-level committees headed by Collectors to go into the structures one by one to decide on the next step: whether they should be demolished, relocated or regularised.
This was decided at a meeting, convened by Chief Secretary S K Srivastava, of revenue officers to discuss the issue of illegal/unauthorised religious structures as notified by the government.
“We have to decide on the affidavit we are going to file in the Supreme Court”, the chief secretary told this paper after the meeting.
As per the decision of the apex court, the States are asked to go into the structures on case-to-case basis.
