VASCO: The Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) on Friday in a letter directed the Mormugao Municipal Council to cancel the auction of installation of giant wheel for the Saptah festival.
Sources from the MMC informed that four bidders had come for the auction, but they had to return empty handed after a letter from the DMA directed the municipality to cancel the auction.
It may be recalled that in a recent council meeting, Councillor Krishna (Daji) Salkar had raised his objection to installation of the giant wheel during the Saptah citing the tragedy happened at Ahmedabad last month.
