PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President
Luizinho Faleiro said that he should not be blamed for the failure of forming
the government alliance with Goa Forward Party.
Addressing reporters at the press conference in Panjim
Faleiro also admitted that the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) was able to form
government only because of the delayed process by Congress party.
However, he said that Goa Forward was already in a
alliance with BJP prior to polls and that was confirmed by Vijay Sardesai just
three days before the counting of election. It may be recalled that Sardesai
had said Manohar Parrikar is a good Chief Minister.
“There is a misunderstanding that I was greedy to
become Chief Minister and the entire formation of government was collapsed. But
the reality is it was because of GF who have betrayed the mandate of people and
joined the hands with BJP,” Faleiro said.
He informed that Sardesai has put condition for
alliance, minus Faleiro as Chief Minister he is ready for alliance for which
party high command had agreed.
“Even I had also replied to my party that I am ready
to sacrifice when high command asked my opinion. I have come here not with my
own wish but it was Mrs Gandhi who have sent me here in Goa,” Faleiro said.
He said that Sardesai is lying to the people of Goa
that Congress has failed to form government because of internal fights.
“We had unanimously elected the CLP leader, all
Independent candidates and NCP had given assurance on March 11 and some mentors
of GF were even dealing with Sardesai to support Congress party but by that
time GF had pledged their support to BJP,” GPCC Chief explained.
He said that for him greatest satisfaction is getting
the party elected in majority than ruling government.
“I am satisfied with the mandate and the faith which
people of Goa have kept in Congress Party. Whichever state given to me by Party
I brought Congress party to power,” Faleiro said.
“I didn’t even want to contest this elections, it was
just 10 days before the polls decided by my high command. I dint go to the
voters for last 10 years and not even able to meet them all in these 10 days,”
he added stating the people have kept faith in him and elected from Navelim
constituency.
