VASCO: Civil society members, doctors and bureaucrats on Saturday advocated the need to follow COVID safety norms such as social distancing, wearing of face masks, hand sanitisation and vaccination to keep the deadly virus at bay.
Mormugao Deputy Collector Sachin Desai said, “It is very important that people take things seriously and start following safety norms such as wearing masks, hand sanitisation, maintaining social distancing etc.”
He said, “People should avoid social gatherings and follow the instructions from the authorities.”
Dr Rashmi Khandeparkar, Urban Health Officer said, “The most important thing is that the people should get themselves vaccinated for COVID. If people avoid large gatherings such as parties, hotels, trips, etc, then the virus spread can be curtailed.”
Sanjay Redkar, Goa Against Coal activist said, “It is true that history has repeated as the State is witnessing a spike in COVID cases. If we want to bring down the cases then it is necessary to follow the precautionary measures such as avoid large gatherings, wear face masks and maintain social distancing.”
