Dodamarg man stabs Bicholim woman outside SGDH

Attempts suicide; Both the accused and the victim admitted in GMC and their condition is reported to be stable; Police suspect that they were in a relationship; Yet to ascertain the reason behind the attack

MARGAO: In a bizarre incident reported outside the South Goa District Hospital here on Monday, an employee of a courier company and resident of Dodamarg allegedly stabbed a woman from Bicholim in broad daylight.

Fatorda Police said the accused 21-year-old Parshuram Gawas, a resident of Deulwadi-Ambadgaon, Dodamarg in Sindhudurg district stabbed the victim 21-year-old Suchita Gaonkar of Maulinge, Bicholim employed as X-ray technician at District Hospital through an agency. Police said after stabbing the victim, the accused attempted suicide.

Both the accused and the victim have been admitted in the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim and their condition is reported to be stable.

Police have booked a case against the accused under Section 307 of the IPC.

Police said the incident took place between 10.15 am and 10.30 am. The IRB constable attached to the Fatorda Police Station, who was on duty at the district hospital, on hearing some noise outside the compound, ran towards them and kicked the accused, who yet again tried to attack the injured victim.

Parshuram stabbed Suchita on the neck and later self-inflicted injuries on his neck.  The Fatorda Police team rushed to the spot and started a preliminary inquiry. A forensic team was summoned and police conducted the panchanama. 

Fatorda Police said, “We suspect that both the accused and the victim were in a relationship. We are yet to ascertain the reason behind the attack and have registered an offence. Further investigation is on.”
