CANACONA: Canacona police on Tuesday arrested Raya alias Kiran Kale (21), a resident of Dodamarg, Sindhudurg in Maharashtra, following a complaint filed by a local girl accusing Kale of stalking and intimidating her.

Canacona police said that on receiving the complaint from the 19-year-old girl, they arrested the accused from his home town at Dodamarg on Tuesday under Sections 354D, 504 and 506(ii) of Indian Penal Code.

After the arrest, the accused was brought to Canacona and produced before a local court which remanded him police custody for two days for further investigation.

The accused came in contact with the victim girl through social media and there after the boy allegedly succeeded in gaining the victims confidence over a period of time.

The accused allegedly also met the victim and later put up a proposal to marry with her which was rejected by the girl’s parents. However, the accused was kept pursuing her.

Unable to bear the consequences, the victim filed a police complaint against the accused for “stalking and harassing her.”
