DoE allows schools to re-appoint teachers on contract or lecture basis

PANJIM: The Directorate of Education has allowed schools to re-appoint teachers on contract or lecture basis in the interest of students, for the current academic year 2020-21. 

In a circular issued on Thursday, Director Education Vandana Rao said due to rise in COVID cases across the nation, there has been continuous lockdown since March 2020. 

“In order to efficiently manage the financial affairs of the State the government has decided to defer the recruitment in all government departments upto December 2020,” the circular mentioned. 

“However, in the interest of the students it is decided by the government to re-appoint teachers on contractual or lecture basis in government and government aided schools,” it added. 

As such, all the heads of government and government aided primary, secondary and higher secondary and special schools are permitted to re-appoint teachers on contract or lecture basis with effect from June 4, 2020 till the end of the academic year by following the procedure. 

The educational institutions in the State are closed since March 15 in view of COVID pandemic and will continue to remain shut till July 31, pending further orders from Union Ministry for Home Affairs.
