PANJIM: The power tariff for different categories of consumers was hiked with retrospective effect from April 1 this year.
As per the Electricity Department notification, the tariff has been raised for domestic, commercial, industrial, agricultural and high tension consumers.
Domestic consumers will pay 10 paise per unit to 25 paise per unit more. Similarly, the new tariff for hotels has been revised from Rs 4 to Rs 5.25 per unit.
Department officials said power tariffs were not revised for the last two years due to COVID-19. The tariff was last revised in 2019-2020 and the same was charged till date.
The order is effective from April 1, 2022 and shall, unless amended or revoked, continue to be in force till further orders of the Commission, the notification stated. Full report Pg 3 >>
