ASMITA POLJI
MAPUSA: Having no clue or pretending to have no clue? This is a question that the Goa Police has to answer. The Herald in its exclusive report has highlighted the arrest of interstate drug peddler, Priteesh Narayan Borkar alias Babu alias Khali of Anjuna, and revealed the names of 6 major drug dealers as well as one of Borkar’s accomplice.
In a jaw dropping response to the Herald reporter’s inquiry on the action taken by the Goa Police, Anjuna PI Prashal Desai said, “We are informed about this case but we have not received any official communication on this raid conducted by the Hyderabad team or we have received names of the accused persons officially.”
The investigation done by the sleuths of the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) started that Borkar along with Manzoor Ahmed (Goa) used to procure ecstasy, LSD blots, MDMA and Charas in bulk quantities from Thukaram Salgaonkar alias Nana, Vikas Naik alias Vicky, Ramesh Chavan, Steve, Edwin Nunes and Sanja Govekar.
For eight years these people have been selling drugs in Anjuna beach.
It’s been ten plus days since Borkar was arrested and such a detailed case not in possession of Herald, was prepared. The note gives minutest details of the drug gangs operating, then names of the drug peddlers, et al. The case was handled by topmost officers of Telangana, Addl Deputy Commissioner of Police Sneha Mehra (IPS), Police Inspector P Rajesh (H-NEW), G S Danies, SI (H- NEW) along with the Osmania University Police.
Shockingly Borkar was arrested by the ANC was back in 2014.

Telangana police know more about Goa drug gangs than Anjuna police
Message to Anjuna police: You can wake up a man who is fast asleep, but you can’t wake up a man who is pretending to sleep. The CM may consider asking the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) to take up the crackdown on the drug mafia in Goa, especially Anjuna
There is a saying that you can wake up a man who is fast asleep. But you cannot wake up a man who’s pretending to sleep. The Anjuna Police’s response to the Herald reporter (who waited all day to ask and get a response to this) was that they have not been “officially informed” of the drug peddlers named in the Investigation of the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), was shocking.
The Goa Police have not even accessed an official note released by the Telangana Police which has been officially released, to the media. This is not some classified secret document that Herald has accessed.
Also, does the Anjuna Police mean to state that two weeks after drug dealer Priteesh Narayan Borkar’s arrest (also arrested by the Anjuna Police earlier) they have not attempted to seek details of the case and his other links? The Goa Police are well aware of who Borkar is since the Anjuna Police had arrested him earlier in 2014. For eight years since then, he has been involved in the interstate drug trade.
Can the Anjuna Police feign ignorance and wait for an official invitation to follow this up?
In that case, the CM would well prefer getting Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) to take the crackdown on the drug mafia in Goa since they clearly have more on-the-ground information than what the Anjuna Police “officially” knows.
