CURCHOREM: A school is justifiably pleased when a student secures 96.5 per cent at the SSC exams; however, a school in Curchorem has the double delight as two of its students have recorded the staggering aggregate.
The two students are Amarja Laad and Suyesha Phaldessai of the New Educational Institute in Curchorem. While Amarja hopes to become an architect, Suyesha desires to become a Gynaecologist.
Amarja scored cent per cent marks in Science and 99 marks in Social Science, while Suyesha scored 100 per cent in Science and Social Science, and 99 marks in Maths.
Speaking to reporters, Amarja, who hails from Bansai-Curchorem, said she would study for 5 hours daily without any tension or any kind of pressure from her parents. Her mother is a housewife and father is employed at a private firm at Margao.
“Earlier, I was employed as a draftsman with a reputed mining company, but my services were terminated due to the closure of mining activities. I was mentally tensed but I never allowed my daughter to be disturbed in her studies,” said her father, Pandurang.
Suyesha told reporters at her residence at Adnem-Balli that she had scored 94 per cent marks in the prelims and that had made her to work harder to score more marks in the Board exams.
“Despite travelling from Balli to Curchorem, I would study for eight hours each day,” said Suyesha.
Speaking to Herald, the school headmistress Suhas Mahale has congratulated all the successful students, particularly Amarja and Suyesha, for their excellent performance.
“We were expecting excellent results from them and the management and staff are delighted and very happy with their great achievement,” said Mahale.
Elsewhere in Curchorem, Somnath English HS achieved 100 per cent results, followed by Chandrabhaga Tukoba Naik HS with 94 per cent, New Educational Institute (92%) Guardian Angel HS (87%) and Sarvodaya Educational Society’s HS (83%).
