PANJIM: New revelations have surfaced in the brutal double murder case with police sources claiming that both the murder accused had stopped at a liquor outlet en route to Anmod Ghat while their victims remained in the car, purportedly waiting to be dropped at their native in Karnataka.
Senior police officers said that contractor Osban Fernandes and his accomplice Ramesh Bhagwe had managed to convince Sujata, who was looking out for her missing husband Shivaji, to stay at her maternal house while her husband recuperated in a hospital.
“Both drank heavily in the bar. When they reached Anmod Ghat they strangled Sujata and her minor children and dumped them in the valley,” claimed the officer.
Meanwhile, the Children’s Court has remanded Fernandes to 14 days judicial custody and Bhagwe two more days of police custody, PI Jivba Dalvi informed outside the court. Bhagwe is also being investigated for allegedly sexually abusing the six-year-old girl.
In the meanwhile, sources said North SP V Borkar is likely to submit a report of the probe into why Old Goa Police failed to act on a journalist’s tip-off on the first murder.
