PWD Minister Ramakrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar submitted the report to the office of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for finalization. Gadkari is currently on holiday. The copy of the DPR was also submitted to Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.
PWD Chief Engineer Dattaprasad Borkar confirmed to Herald that DPR and alignment has been submitted to the Union government.
for finalization. Borkar, who is accompanying Dhavalikar to in New Delhi, refused to disclose details of the project.
The government wants to make, the entirely centrally funded Zuari Bridge, a signature bridge, with unique design features that would make it a tourist attraction. The present bridge, a lifeline connecting North with South, is in bad condition and cannot sustain heavy traffic. Government has decided to float a global tender for the project by April this year.
