PANJIM: Dr P S Ramani, who was entrusted with preparing a ‘vision document on Health 2035 in Goa’ on Saturday categorically, stated that “to implement any project in the Health sector there is a need to have money, stable government and non-corrupt administration’.
Addressing a press conference, Dr Ramani said that there is a need to follow a proper system in the health sector, keeping in mind the long term prospects of this sector. “I am speaking about the national health scenario, wherein there is lack of facilities and infrastructure at the public hospitals. There is no proper vision,” he said.
Dr Ramani, a renowned neuro-spinal surgeon, said that he submitted a full-fledged project on how we can improve our health sector, considering the increasing population, kind of diseases, facilities, etc as part of Vision document for Goa 2035, drafted by Raghunath Mashelkar.
“But, it is important to note that to implement any project, you need money, stable government and there should not be corruption,” he said adding “you live in Goa and you are more aware about the situation here’.
The India Printing Works (IPW) has decided to document ‘photo biography’ of Dr Ramani, which will speak about his life and achievements. Titled ‘PS Ramani-A Legend’, the biography would be released on September 4 in Pune, during the international celebration of Dr Ramani’s 75th birthday.
“This project was very challenging. To capture all the aspects of a multi-faceted personality like Dr Ramani was a daunting task,” IPW Managing Director Anand Limaye said.
Dr Ramani, who was born on November 30, 1938, in the village of Wadi, near Ponda, is known for his establishment of an up-to-date neurosurgery department at the Sion Hospital in Bombay. He has conducted 30,000 surgeries in his career, so far.
