PANJIM: The Disability Rights Association Goa (DRAG) has welcomed the Supreme Court order directing the Government of India to issue instructions to implement reservations in promotions for persons with disabilities (PwD) at the earliest but not later than four months.
The Persons with Disability Act 1995 had mandated reservations in promotions for persons with disability and the Central government had issued instructions to that effect. In the Rights of Persons with Disability Act 2016, Section 34 mandated that the government should frame guidelines regarding reservations in promotions to persons with disability.
