FOR: Accepting a bribe of Rs 90,000 from a transport contractor at Patto in Panjim
Bribe was for: Allowing a contractor to operate in their jurisdiction, through he had valid licenses and paid various taxes

ARRESTED
Peon Dattaram alias Damu Gawde
FOR: Accepting Rs 1 lakh from an Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector (AMVI)
Bribe was for: To settle service issues he was facing.
Useful to know:
a) Gawde during his interrogation had disclosed that Deputy Director Vishram Govekar, was linked to the bribery case.
b) Gawde an MGP worker in Dhavlikar’s office became a peon. He was then sent to the transport director’s office as a junior peon. He established himself as major power centre in the department. He continued to be the major arterial vein to reach the then Transport Director Arun Dessai and then subsequently the PWD Minister Sudin Dhavlikar
c) AMVI’s have always been in the news: The Anti Corruption Bureau submitted a report in 2013, investigating alleged corruption in the recruitment of Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspectors (AMVI’s) between October 2010 and March 2011 referred indirectly to the role of Arun Dessai and Officer on Special duty Milind Bhobe. The report however made no mention of the specific role played by them in the scam which involved the fraudulent recruitment
