MGP Marcaim MLA condemns attack

PONDA: Suchita Narvekar, director of Rajiv Kala Mandir, Ponda and wife of renowned dramatist Rajdeep Naik, whose car was damaged by some miscreants, submitted her resignation from the post, on Monday. 

Suchita said, “I was not taken into confidence nor my opinion was considered in the Board meeting and learnt about the decisions only after the meeting was held.” 

Meanwhile, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party leader and Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar condemned the attack.

 “The party strongly condemns the attack on Rajdeep’s car. The artistes being son of the soil, I strongly demand with the government to calculate and provide immediate lump-sum financial aid for two years to COVID-19 pandemic hit stage artistes in the State,” he claimed.

MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar also condemned the attack. Dhavalikar said, “Long back I had asked the government to make provision of Rs 100 crore for providing relief to the suffering people including stage artistes during the COVID-19 pandemic.” 

He said, “The government negligent attitude towards the pandemic led to spread of coronavirus cases and so the government is fully responsible for the plight of artistes and the people.”

“Since past two years, these artistes have no work and are struggling to feed their families. So, the government should calculate and provide them one time financial help for these two years. Main stage artiste should be given minimum Rs 5,000 per month i.e for two years Rs 1.20 lakh. Subordinate artiste should get minimum Rs 3,000 per month, lower stage artiste minimum Rs 2,000 per month. Similarly, costume designer Rs 5,000 per month, Director and writer Rs 10,000 per month each,” Dhavalikar said. Further, he demanded that the drama and tiatr associations should be given Rs 5 lakh each.
