PANJIM: BJP Goa State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade on Monday said that a historic moment unfolded at the Rashtrapati Bhavan with the swearing-in of Draupadi Murmu as the 15th President of India.
“By making Murmu the country’s first citizen, India has shown the world that it places the aspirations and the emancipation of the grassroots at the top,” Tanavade said.
“There is no doubt that this strong sense of duty toward the people will continue to be at her core as Murmu discharges her Presidential responsibilities. Indeed, madam President is taking charge of the office at a critical juncture. She enters Rashtrapati Bhavan during the momentous year of India celebrating its 75th year of Independence. She is the youngest Indian President and the first President born in independent India – a truly young and free leader,” he added.
