PANJIM: To test the overall operational fitness level of the fire personnel for prompt response in case of an emergency, the 34th Annual Drill Competition was conducted for all the fire stations in Goa at Fire Force Training Ground, St Inez, Panjim on Saturday.
The Annual Drill Competitions – Squad Drill, Ladder Drill, Pump Drill and Tug of War were declared open by Nitin V Raiker, Director of Fire & Emergency Services (F&ES).
“This is an annual event to bring forth the talents of the fire force personnel in limelight and also encourage the participants to showcase their skills and enhance their self-esteem,” said Raiker.
The Fire Force Headquarters, Mapusa Fire Station and Bicholim Fire Station were amongst the winners.
D K Sawant, Retired Superintendent of Police, Tara Singh, Subedar Indian
Army and Gopal B Shetye, Retired Station Fire Officer judged the events.
The winners of the annual drill competitions are: Squad Drill: Fire Force Headquarters, Mapusa Fire Station, Valpoi Fire Station.
Ladder Drill: Fire Force Headquarters , Mapusa Fire Station,
Valpoi Fire Station. Pump Drill: Mapusa Fire Station,
Fire Force Headquarters, Ponda Fire Station. Tug of war: Bicholim Fire Station.
DK Sawant, Superintendent of Police (Retd.), Tara Singh, Subedar Indian Army and Gopal B Shetye, Station Fire Officer (Goa) (Retd) judged the events, Ravi Naik, Station Fire Officer compered the function and Ajit Kamat, Assistant Divisional Officer proposed the vote of thanks.
