PANJIM: In the wake of the mess created on the beaches due to non-lifting of garbage and subsequent trading of allegations between MLAs of the ruling party, the government has roped in Drishti Services to carry out beach cleaning for now.
“Upon a request from the government, Drishti is handling the beach cleaning on a temporary basis. We have the infrastructure and management capability on all the beaches,” said a statement from Drishti.
Dristi MD Ankit Somani said, “We have deployed additional manpower. 90 percent of the piled up garbage has been cleaned in the last 24 hours.”
On Thursday, blaming the Tourism Department for the mess, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo had demanded the resignation of the Tourism top brass forcing Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar to call an urgent meeting.
