PANJM: Drishti Marine has urged the people not to venture into the sea in the wake of rough weather. While mourning the death of a contractual staff of the City of Corporaton of Panaji (CCP), the lifeguard agency stated that the water has turned dangerous with pre-monsoon showers.
“We deeply mourn the very tragic loss of a young life in Goa. Once again we urge everyone to please not go into the sea as the season has changed and the water is now dangerous. Red flags are up at every beach. Please keep lifeguards in your sights at all times,” a media statement reads.
“The group was not swimming, but sitting at the shore, and the person was in mere knee deep water. Within moments a strong wave and current can pull the sand from underneath and it becomes very difficult to fight through.”
On Saturday evening, Clive Paiva drowned near Colva beach while Indian Navy and the lifeguards were pressed into service to search the body.
Drishti, had earlier this month, advised citizens to be cautious due to rough weather and sea conditions. It had further advised visitors to avoid rocky areas, cliffs and hills on the shoreline and avoid clicking selfies, which have claimed few lives in the past.
