CANAONA: A truck transporting cement from Margao to Agonda in Canacona was involved in an accident at the Karmal Ghat-Agonda junction in Gulen on Saturday afternoon. The truck had registration no GA-08 U-9955.
During the accident, one person working on the truck sustained injuries, and an electricity pole was destroyed as the driver lost control and collided with it.
Typically, there are many local vendors selling vegetables at this junction. Fortunately, there were no casualties as the accident occurred around 3 pm, when the vendors had gone home for lunch.
Efforts to call for an ambulance proved challenging initially. It was reported that the 108 ambulance service was occupied and unable to dispatch a vehicle. Additionally, the Canacona Health Centre stated that no medical officer was available to accompany their ambulance.
