Driver succumbs to injuries

A 51-year-old driver from Belgaum, who was seriously injured in a freak road mishap, succumbed to injuries at Goa Medical College Hospital on Tuesday morning.
According Vasco police, Rafiq Jamadar was seriously hurt after a truck had struck him outside the MPT on Sunday morning.
Jamadar had alighted from his truck to close rear flap and seeing him in some difficulty, Mahabub Sab Valekar, the driver of another truck, stopped behind Jamadar truck and offered to help him.
Valekar, however, forgot to shut down the engine of his truck and his vehicle accidentally began to roll ahead, knocking down Jamadar from behind. Vasco police has registered an offence against Valekar and is investigating the case.
