PORVORIM: Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar on Thursday raised the issue of the decline in flights and passenger footfall at the Dabolim international airport, which could affect the livelihood of many people in South Goa.
Raising the matter during zero hour, Amonkar said there was fear and anxiety in the minds of the people of South Goa, especially taxi operators, transporters, hoteliers, shack owners, and other ancillary service providers, regarding the decline in flights and passenger footfall at Dabolim international airport. He also expressed concerns about the potential shifting of more airlines to Mopa airport.
“People fear that the entire South Goa economy is at stake and the livelihoods of many people will be affected if this continues,” he said, seeking to know what steps the government intends to take in this regard.
