DROWNING CASES ON RISE: 16-yr-old drowns in Valvanti river

In a tragic incident, 16-year-old Deepesh Nam-dev Gawas from Keri-Sattari drowned in the Valvanti River on Sunday morning. Sources said that the teenager had gone swimming with his relatives but was carried away with the strong current and frantic efforts to save him were in vain. 

The tragic news spread across the village, locals rushed to the site and managed to retrieve his body but sadly he was declared brought dead by the doctors at Sankhali Community Health Centre. Gawas was an SSC student of the Government High School, Keri and was anxiously waiting for his results, said neighbours. The body was later sent to the Goa Medical College, Bambolim for autopsy. Gawas is survived by his parents, elder sister and grandparents.
