PANJIM: The Pernem police are investigating the death of a Swedish DJ who was found dead in the verandah of his friend’s house at Morjim early Friday morning.

A senior officer said the investigating team is looking into the possibility of drug or alcohol overdose in connection with the death of Per Tobias Almar (34).

Almar was in Goa with his mother and girlfriend, and has been performing as DJ in various popular night clubs of North Goa. He was also reportedly renting out rooms to foreign tourists in Morjim, sources told Herald.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Serafin Dias said a case of unnatural death has been registered by them.

Police has recovered some cigarettes and other material used by the DJ and will send them for further tests.

The initial probe suspected that Almar might have been killed as he had an injury mark on his forehead and that he was involved in a fight with unidentified person(s) at a shack in Arambol the previous night.

“His mother confirmed that it was an old injury due to a bug bite which had gone sore. We have not found any link of that argument with his death but a detailed probe will be conducted to know the truth,” the officer said.

The post mortem was conducted by Goa Medical College doctors later during the day. Sources said the cause of death could not be ascertained but viscera samples have been preserved for chemical analyses. “We cannot rule out drug or alcohol overdose,” another senior police officer said.

It has been learnt that Almar performed as DJ and did live sets across various clubs in Europe, and India ~ in Mumbai, Goa and other places.
