PANJIM: As State government fails to crack down on narcotic trade during events like electronic dance music festival (EDM), the Goa Forward Party (GFP) has questioned whether the drug lobby is the new funding machine of BJP.
In a series of tweets, GFP vice president Durgadas Kamat has also questioned whether ‘we are going to turn Goa from being tourism destination into drug destination.’
“Our MLA @vinod_palyekar had written to Goa government as well as @narendramodi. But still #Druglobby rule the coastal belt. Is drug lobby now the funding machine of @BJP4India?” he tweeted.
“Drug turnover in the State crosses 950 million US dollars a year. Are we going to turn Goa from tourism destination into #DrugDestination? Political will is lacking to crackdown on the drug trade,” he tweeted further.
Kamat said that party president Vijai Sardesai has rightly said that GFP will have zero tolerance towards drugs.
