PANJIM: In a major drug haul, a team of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence arrested two alleged drugs smugglers, including an Afghan national, for discreetly carrying out the drug trade across many places.
Both the accused have been arrested in a follow-up investigation in seizure of around 35 kgs of Heroin drug at Delhi.
Directorate of Revenue Intelligence on February 17 had seized 34.7 kgs of Heroin at the International Container Depot at Tughlakabad, Delhi. DRI found that Heroin was imported from Iran by one Nitish Suman Prasad Kumar under the pretext of importing salt. The chase, brought DRI team to Goa.
DRI team learnt that accused Nitish was in Goa to meet with drugs peddlers to sell the Heroin. DRI team finally arrested Nitish from a nightclub in North Goa along with another suspected Afghan drug peddler namely Abdul Zahir Nasir.
DRI team has taken both the accused to Delhi after obtaining transit remand from a local court.
