MAPUSA: The Anjuna Police arrested two Ugandan women for allegedly possesing narcotic substances.
The women identified as Sanyu Florence (28) and Nabankema Arisat (26) were found with narcotic substances worth Rs 1.61 lakh.
As per information obtained from SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi, inputs were received from reliable sources that two foreign nationals were supplying drugs in the coastal region of Anjuna from last few days. Based on the information, a team from Anjuna Police Station was formed.
Further, based on technical surveillance, on Wednesday the police team maintained a watch in civil clothes at Onachebhat Anjuna and at around 8.30 am, the two women who had come to supply drugs to prospective customers were detained.
Further, their personal search was conducted during which seven grams of psychotropic drugs Ecstasy worth Rs 45,000, 10.3 grams of psychotropic drugs suspected to be Cocaine worth Rs 82,400, and 3.4 grams of psychotropic drugs MDMA worth Rs 34,000 were found on their possession.
The ceased drugs and other exibits were valued at Rs 1,61,400.
Both the accused have been placed under arrest under Sections 22(b), 21(b) of NDPS Act and are presently in police custody.
