PANJIM: Nearly 1.35 lakh beneficiaries of Dayanand Social Security (DSS) scheme have not been paid their monthly doles for the last two months in Goa, a top official said.
According to the official, the Directorate of Social Welfare is waiting for the approval from the Directorate of Accounts so that the payments could be made on time.
The official said that a review meeting of the department officials was held recently to discuss the matter so that the doles to beneficiaries are released on time.
”We could not release the payment as there was no approval from the Accounts Department which sets priorities for the other government department and then funds are released to DSS beneficiaries. We have taken up this matter with the chief minister so as to instruct the Accounts Department to release funds soon,” the official said hoping that it would be streamlined soon.
