Dudhsagar River level rises, roads in Davkon, Nirankal underwater

PONDA: Due to the rise in water level of Dudhsagar river in Dharbandora, roads in villages of Davkon and Nirankal went underwater on Friday. The Deputy Collector Nilesh Dhaigodkar and Collem PI Sanjay Dalvi took stock of the situation in a wake of water reaching inside the houses but no such incident was reported till late evening.

The traffic was impacted due to constant rains from Friday morning and same was the situation on Monday as well as Tuesday. Dhaigodkar have notified locals to stay alert and move to safer places in case the water level increases. The Deputy Collector also informed that the arrangements at Immaculate Conception High School at Colsoi have been made for people to move there incase of emergency. The Collem police were keeping a close eye on the situation till evening. The situation at Nirankal was no different and hence the traffic was moved to the Tisk-Usgao route.  

Meanwhile in other incidents, the wall of Vitthal Ingle’s house near Dada Vaidya High School, Curti collapsed on his neighbor Vyankat Shetty’s house.
